Rsselsheim. The Opel Supervisory Board appointed Alfred Rieck (55) as the new Management Board member in charge of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, effective July 1, 2012. At the same time, he is named Opel/Vauxhall Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Aftersales. He reports directly to Opel/Vauxhall CEO Karl-Friedrich Stracke.
Alfred Rieck joins Opel from Volkswagen AG where he recently held the position of Vice President, Volkswagen Group China, located in Beijng. As President, Skoda China, Rieck led the successful launch of the Skoda brand on the Chinese market.
Previously, Rieck held various management positions within the Volkswagen Group, including Managing Director of Skoda Germany, Marketing Director of Skoda Auto in Bratislava und Project Director Sales and Marketing of VW Luxury Cars in Wolfsburg. Prior to that, Alfred Rieck worked for Volvo in Sweden and in the Netherlands.

Alfred Rieck succeeds Alain Visser who has decided to leave the company and pursue other business opportunities. Alain Visser had been a Management Board member at Opel since 2004.
