Satellite Navigation System Diagnostics for the Ford AU II Falcon

  • This document describes the Diagnostic and Demonstration modes that are available with the AU Falcon Satellite Navigation System.
    It includes information on accessing the Diagnosis Menu, from Settings/System Information Menu, a description of the settings available, as well as Default settings for these features.
    The Satellite Navigation System used in the AU model Falcons is the VDO/Dayton System.
  • The VDO/Dayton Diagnostics Menu allows for viewing and monitoring inputs used within the Sat-Nav System, to help determine if the Vehicle inputs, the vehicle, or the Sat-Nav system is the cause for incorrect operation.
    Accessing the Diagnostics Menu Using the Sat-Nav remote control,
  • 1) From the "START" Menu, select "SETTINGS".
  • 2) From "SETTINGS" menu, select "SYSTEM INFORMATION".
  • 3) From the "SYSTEM INFORMATION" menu, select "DIAGNOSIS".
  • 4) From the "DIAGNOSIS" menu, press the "OK" button on the remote control, then enter "6330" into the CODE input screen.

    The Sat-Nav screen (AU models) or the ICC screen (BA models) will now display the different sub menus that are available for Sat-Nav Diagnostics.
    These Sub Menus include,
  • READ I/O STATE - This section shows the values that are being fed to the Sat-Nav System from the Vehicle.
  • SET I/O STATE - Used for fitting the system to various other vehicles - Settings here should not be altered.
  • READ GPS DATA - This section displays the type, and current GPS receiver condition.
  • READ ERROR - Shows any errors that are being fed to the Sat-Nav system from sensors, and Data sources.
  • DEMO - This enables and disables the Demonstration Mode for the VDO/Dayton Sat Nav system.
  • RETURN - This selection returns the user to the "START MENU".
  • When this Sub Mode is selected, a screen will appear that will show the user the input values that are currently being fed in to the system.
    The information is updated in real time, and includes the following information.
  • Speed Pulses - This shows the Speedo input from the Speedo Sender unit (AU), or from the PCM module (BA).
    Note : This value is not Km/Hr, rather it is the RAW input from the Speedo Sender unit, or the PCM.
  • Temperature - This shows the Sat-Nav unit temperature in Degrees C - At temperatures above 60*C, the internal fan will begin operation.
  • Battery Voltage - This shows the Battery Voltage that is being fed to the Sat-Nav Module.
  • Eject Button - Shows 0 if the Sat-Nav Eject Button is not depressed, and 1 if the button is depressed. (NOTE :This is not the ICC Eject Button on BA models)
  • Direction - Shows FWD (Forward) for P/N/D/5/4/3/2/1 and REV for Reverse Gear Selected
  • Light - Shows Off if the Vehicles Park Lamps are off, and On if they are On
  • Acc1 - Shows Off if the Ignition key is in the Off position, and shows On if the ignition switch is in the Acc, or On Position
  • Acc2 - Not used for AU/BA Falcon Models and should appear, as NOAPP
    Clicking on the "OK" Button on the remote control will return you back to the "START MENU".
  • This section allows you to change settings that the Sat-Nav system uses to determine certain aspects of the vehicle operation.
    NOTE : It is not recommended that any of these functions be altered, as any changes made will render the Sat-Nav system inoperable.
    The Following settings can be altered,
  • 1) Direction: - (DEFAULT ACT_HIGH) - This setting determines what the Sat-Nav System will expect for a signal voltage on its Reverse Active Input. (I.E. if set to ACT_HIGH, the Sat-Nav system will expect +12V as an input when Reverse gear is selected).
  • 2) Light: - (DEFAULT ACT_HIGH) - This setting determines what the Sat-Nav System will expect for a signal voltage on its Park Lamps Active Input. (I.E. if set to ACT_HIGH, the Sat-Nav system will expect +12V as an input when the park lamps have been turned On).
  • 3) Acc: Pin 1: - (DEFAULT ACT_HIGH) - This setting determines what the Sat-Nav System will expect for a signal voltage on its Accessories Power Active Input. (I.E. if set to ACT_HIGH, the Sat-Nav system will expect +12V as an input when the Ignition switch is in the Acc or On position).
  • 4) Acc: Pin 2: - (NO DEFAULT - Not Connected) - This setting determines what the Sat-Nav System will expect for a signal voltage on its second Accessories Power Active Input. (Note : This input is not connected on AU/BA model falcons).
    NOTE : To change ANY of these values, the Input must be active (Ignition Switched On, Park Lamps On, and Reverse Gear Selected).
  • NOTE : The GPS Data is only used by the Sat-Nav system only occasionally, to confirm the position calculation from the Speed sender, and Vehicle Direction is roughly correct.
    A good GPS fixation is essential to the system when it is first installed inside the vehicle, or when the vehicle is moved from one location to another without the navigation system being active.
    The Read GPS Data Screen will show the following status, depending on the GPS signal it is receiving.
  • GPS1 : 3D Position - The GPS receiver in the Sat-Nav computer is an 8 channel type with an accuracy of 100 metres. When 4 or more satellites are being received, The satellite icon on the guidance screen will become GREEN, indicating Normal Sat-Nav operation.
  • GPS2 : 2D Position - No Geographic height position can be determined in this mode of operation. This mode is entered when 3 or more satellites are being received. The satellite icon on the guidance screen will become RED, indicating or poor or reduced reception.
  • GPS3 : Tracking - Only one satellite has been received by the Sat-Nav Computer. This condition is normally encountered when the system is first powered up, and can last up to 10 minutes. The Satellite icon on the guidance screen is Red.
  • GPS4 : Search Sat - No Satellites have been found, and the system is searching for satellites. The Satellite icon on the guidance screen is RED.
  • GPS5 : Rec Error - The GPS receiver does not receive any signal. This condition is usually caused by a faulty antenna, damaged antenna cable, or a faulty GPS system. The satellite icon on the guidance screen is RED.
  • GPS6 : Com Error - The GPS receiver is not providing any Data to the Sat-Nav computer.
