I can't upload files for some reason but I have a dump from a prototype Orion cluster and an early generation FG G6E.

Yeah the uploading has buggered up on carmodder for some time unfortunately.
Your best way of sharing the files is to chuck it up on one of the million free file sharing websites and then post up the link here.
A very fast file free upload/download file sharer is: https://mega.nz/

I dont even know what the new ford orion looks like.. Im assuming thats still all under wraps as quick google brings up a 1980's car!

The 2008 model of the large rear-wheel drive Ford Falcon FG in Australia, the FG, was code-named 'Orion'.

Here is the prototype dump...

I'll upload the other dump later.

Ohhhhhhhhhh. Right!

Cool. Prototype dump looks plain jane, nothing really leaps out in it.

Errr. I've lost my USB EEPROM programmer. I moved my office around recently and somehow managed to misplace it in the process.
I'll look at borrowing a programmer from someone but it'll take a while. Also, I may have another cluster on the way.

Crazy how long it's been since anything has happened in this thread, in comparison to the BA/BF it seems still that the FG cluster is still a bit of an unknown! I've attached a copy of my bin for anyone who'd like to compare. I'm curious if anyone else here has any more bins I could use to try comparing a few different things as currently only having the two bins (the 99294 and prototype) isn't enough of a sample size for me to figure much out!

What I've currently figured is that any modification to the odometer in 0x6 to 0x25 will result in 'Error' as obviously there is a checksum, but alas the location shared in the first post here (0xD0) is not different in any bin I've seen. (I tried changing the odometer string to the one found in the 99,294 bin; 123,456 tests; prototype bin; and all FF in an attempt to zero).
This theory is solid as if you flash a whole bin as attached sure enough, cluster works perfectly; I got it to work for both the 99k file and the prototype - it would appear the prototype has 580km on it.
The only thing I may have figured out so far may be the HW version at 0x88; but alas I cannot tell if this is right.

My current plan is now to get another cluster and put a socket onto it so I can easily read the chip & test which bits do what; for example when I use IDS to enable police mode, whether overspeed is on, time driven etc. It'd be great to figure out also how the gauge maps work so I could possibly run the cluster in a different car with different fuel senders etc.

Cheers matt, hopefully can figure more stuff out with your help!

So in the last couple of days, I've managed to get my hands on another XR cluster for cheap; still need to dump it as it'd be one of the last MK1 clusters released being from 2011 - specs are:
Ford Falcon FG XR6 94xxx km
8R29 10849 DB
A2C53243650
SW: 1004141 1/3/2011 9:25 2049
HW: 06 EE: 0.04 CI: 07; as I'm yet to dump it I couldn't confirm the k's yet.

Also FWIW it seems FG MK2s use a 24C16, haven't got one to test but am pretty sure the cluster works similarly at least odometer wise, but when it comes to things like PATS and as built data they would differ a bit certainly.

I also bought a bunch of 24LC04's for cheap and used some sockets and it's made life a whole lot easier; odometer and checksum location all sorted, so now it is just a matter of trying to otherwise learn how the rest of the cluster works; I guess it's now going to be a matter of comparing more dumps and seeing what I can work out!
