Interior Modifications

FG Falcon Instrument Cluster EEPROM Programming

Specific interior modification information for Ford FG Series Falcons and FPV models.

Postby TazzI » Sat May 16, 2015 6:55 pm

Been a tad slow/quiet on the Ford front recently.

I didnt have the tools equipped to attack the FG and anything newer on the Fords before.. although I think I can safely says Im about there now.
Im now equipped with:
-An army of ELMs
-Modified SWC ELMS
-VCM2
-MX WIFI
-TCB
-AVT
and a few other tools

I have been having trouble getting connected up to the FG cluster.. since I didnt find any information.. at all.. about the FG's. Turns out you need custom tools, software and a bit of luck to get connected up to them successfully!

Between this army of tools, Ill be setting up a virtual car on a programming bench so I can emulate the ECU response, cluster, radio ect to attack IDS and FMP.

Ontop of this, Ill be emulating the ECU speed data (Hopefully) to control the Cluster.. and read off the odo reading at each 1km interval. Anyone thats keen to join in, you'll need to get an FG cluster and be prepared to break something ;)

Well, I had nothing better to do this evening so I crunched some numbers.... These are modifications to the 99128km dump Tazzi posted up earlier in the thread.

If someone with a cluster could test these two bins and let me know what they come up with that would be awesome.

:D

Alllllright so the FG clusters actually have both HS can and MS can inputs in the pinout! :D

Riiiiiight, that makes more sense. Now to work out which one gets which info or which is used for programming. Assume MS can will be programming, and HS can will be all the general info including speed/rpm 8-)

Next on the agenda, a HS and MS CAN enabled ELM ;)

MS Can is used for Diagnostics. I couldnt set my chinese ELM to talk so ended up buying a STN110 from Scantool, works a treat. Can extract some info via mode 21.

Yeah the mx I picked up will work too, but wifi is painful to deal with. But iv wired up an elm today to try it out. It's all about entering the elm into the correct custom settings suitable for the ms can speed.

Actually got a bit adventurous and added a switch for ms and hs CAN.

Pm sent.

Its gotten to the point, Iv been looking at actually buying a FG falcon to work on

Need logs of the car running and rolling about to progress further.. and.. without it.. its not gonna happen.

If anyone owns a FG.. nows the time to chirp up!
