Just to finish off this thread for anyone who may read in the future.
After breaking the eeprom leg trying to lift it to get a good read with my cheap programmer, i attempted to lift the whole eeprom so i could replace it with a new chip, in the process of doing that I ended up lifting a couple of tracks on the circuit board, i severely overestimated my abilities and thought i had probably ruined the whole unit and effectively thrown away $1000. My only option was to contact Justin at Ultimate conversion wiring (doubledip). I must say the guy is a legend, I sent the unit over to him where he managed to find me an eeprom and repair the damaged tracks on my board before reprogramming the unit for me, with VIM and all the rest of the goodies.
So my advice to anyone wanting to reprogram an IQ unit into their E1, skip the time wasted waiting for programmers and soic clips to arrive, Skip the money wasted on cheap equipment that wont work properly and send it off to Justin to get it done properly.
Cheers
