USB Install, VE IQ Headunit

Specific interior modification information for Holden Commodore VE and VEII Series Commodores, and HSV E1, E2, and E3 models

Hi Guys,

Only a small discovery this time but still thought it was worth sharing!
As we all know the holden IQ is fitted with a 4 pin plug which is used for USB media etc,
as this plug is a pain in the arse to make a plug for it with easy to break pins I decided to
attempt to Desolder and remount a Circuit Board standard USB plug (Sourced from JAYCAR)
to make shortening and lengthening easy by just using a standard cord.

My Initial attempts proved unfruitful as an unusual quirk (Thanks Holden) threw me off.
Essentially the factory plug is mounted in reverse compared to normal Circuit board USB plugs

For Example:

Standard Factory IQ Plug Pin Order (Left to Right)
Ground D+ D- +12v

Standard Circuit board pin order (Left to Right)

+12v D- D+ Ground

All you need to do is slightly extend the pins on the Circuit USB Socket and mount it upside down,
Ensure you've grounded the housing pins as well, these will need to be bent down as well.
whilst its not the most aesthetically pleasing way to do this it is definitely the easiest way to do it!

Any questions please ask,

Thanks,

From memory (been a few years since I tried a non factory alternative) a JST-SH connector will fit the factory port
