Ud go best to read through the GM CAN single wire thread to understand the protocol, how its structured, what some of the device ID's are, how to obtain these IDs and arbitrary ID's ect. It will all help with understanding what you are receiving and sending, as well as help understand how to set filters to only receive certain information.

Should I being playing with the 29bit or go straight to the 11bit?

Read through that gm CAN single wire thread first and see what were the major components communicating over each protocol type and what they did (change text, display info ect),
Remember its not only 29/11bit. But you also have 29bit High Speed and Low speed, and 11bit high speed and low speed. Not sure if you had to mangle the elm com speed to suit 33.33 for swcan?

Either way, that thread is the way to go.

I couldnt open it in adobe, but opened fine using a different pdf viewer. The stock standard one on win8 works fine with it.

Just tried to open that pdf up in win 8 viewer and it opens but only shows the header and footer...

Can I get a copy from you or somewhere else..
