looked at your Bin file... appears to be fine.. why do you think there is a problem?

also read it as a 24C16

Thanks! I thought there was more data on the newer clusters from what people were saying so I just assumed it wasn't correct. I was reading it as a 24C16 and I bumped it up to 24C32 to see if it would read more data. I have been messing around with a black back G8 cluster that is pretty rare here. For every 20 white ones you might see a black one.

Thanks for checking that out doubledip.

Fantastic amount of information in this thread. Thanks to all who have contributed to it thus far.

I successfully reprogrammed the EEPROM in a replacement cluster for my 2008 SS. I set the Kilometers and changed the last 8 digits of the VIN number for the security. Worked a treat.

I've attached the BIN I was playing around with. All the ODO locations were changed to 1F940000 while I was experimenting.

The BIN is from a 2008 SS L98 6Sp Man car.

Hey guys I am pretty new to programming. I've successfully programmed a couple of different clusters and head-units to my 2007 Omega so far. i have just started playing around with a cluster out of a Calais with a black cover on it I have attached the original dump from the cluster and will let you know how i go.

Yeah the black back clusters are a whole different kettle of fish!. Made by different company, thus all algos, locations and things that can be changed are completely different!

Interested to see how you get on with them!

Hi folks,

I've been trawling through this entire forum (that I have access to,) plus ones that ZerOne and jezzab have made elsewhere on the Interwebs. I've been borrowing from all the hard work already done.

I'm almost there with putting a level 3 HSV cluster into my SV6 ute. Only fault left is the ABS fault.

I'm currently working on putting a HSV cluster (part #92222129) into my MY8.5 SV6 60th Anniversary Ute (which came with part #92222122.)

I've also got a spare G8 cluster, (part #92220531) and a spare HSV facia insert which I'll sell off at the end of this exercise.

Interestingly, when I do nothing other than start the car with the cluster in, and Enable the "approach lighting" option, and turn off the car, the only single byte which changes is 0x0004 so I'm thinking that U7 isn't the only EEPROM that's relevant. Although no one else seems to think so on this thread so far!

I thought I'd post the 3 cluster BINs I have sourced myself, but I get "Could not upload attachment to ./files/70556_acf426b5319274d845d127364e0f11b1." so no dice! Will try later.

Ok folks, I can't find that anyone has actually spelt it out like this yet...

If you want to swap out a white backed arrow cluster for another one, these are the offsets you need to copy from your old cluster to your new cluster.

1) All the Odometer ones that the brilliant ZerOne nutted out (I think it's 14 continuous strings)
2) The VIN location (and its backup location) as spelt out by ZerOne - they stand out like dog's balls.
3) 332-363, which is duplicated back up at 12e to 15f.
4) 364-373, which is duplicated back up at 16c to 17b.
5) 374-383, which is duplicated back up at 188 to 197.
6) 384-397, which is duplicated back up at 1a0 to 1b3.
7) 398-3c9, which is duplicated back up at 1bc to 1ed.
8) 3ca-3fb, which is duplicated back up at 1f6 to 227.

In the end, that what all I did to transfer a cluster. I have an SV6 ute, but I transferred those location from it into a HSV cluster, put it in the SV6, and it all worked perfectly.

I did notice some Arrow cluster dumps in this thread seemed to be 1 byte off. I think they had an extra byte in the 230-25f area. Part of that I think we said was the Tech2 ID that was used on the car last ?

So now I know those listed offsets above are for the body, trans, engine options etc. I'm going to have a go at identifying each of the other chunks, and their early duplicates: 260-27d, 27e-28f, 290-294, 29d to 2b7, 2b8 to 2d3, 2d4 to 2fb, 2fc to 320, 321 to 331.

I'm going to try and see if it's possible to have Inst. Fuel on the left screen, and Avg Fuel on the right screen - or some different combination other than the defaults. Please let me know if anyone has had luck there. Also, TPMS coming in the next few weeks!
