Circuit / System Description
The camshaft position actuator solenoid valve - intake and camshaft position actuator solenoid valve - exhaust are attached to each camshaft and are operated hydraulically in order to change the angle of the camshaft relative to crankshaft position. The camshaft position actuator solenoid valve - intake and camshaft position actuator solenoid valve - exhaust are controlled by the engine control module (ECM). The ECM sends a pulse width modulated signal to a camshaft position actuator solenoid valve - intake and camshaft position actuator solenoid valve - exhaust. The camshaft position actuator solenoid valve - intake and camshaft position actuator solenoid valve - exhaust can change the camshaft angle by a maximum of 20?. The ECM increases the pulse width to accomplish the desired camshaft operation.
