After installing, consider visiting http://www.update.microsoft.com as some of the programs are bundled with outdated Microsoft software.

FREE:
Scanmaster Free v0.4.0.0 (old version, may not work on latest scantools):
http://www.wgsoft.de/index.php/en/OBD-I ... egory.html

ScanmasterELM_Demo 2.1, (new version, now Nagware):
http://www.wgsoft.de

Digimoto Lite 1.06:
http://www.digimoto.com/installs/lite/d ... ite106.exe
This is a limited version of Digimoto 4.0, an version based on Digimoto 5.0 is promised shortly.
The program requires the .Net Framework, which is usually already on your computer; if not it can be obtained from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en .

Digimoto Lite 1.06 (includes .Net Framework version 1.1):
www.digimoto.com/installs/lite/digimotolitefw106.exe
Not recommended.
If you install this version, follow-up by going to http://www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/ to apply any "critical" security patches to the .Net Framework.
(I also had trouble getting this Digimoto link to download correctly.)

OBD 2007 Lite:
http://www.glmsoftware.com/downloads/OBD2007Lite.zip
Recommended procedure: Install Microsoft's Sql Server 2005 Compact Edition runtime FIRST from from the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads as OBD 2007 Lite will crash if installed without this & will need to be reinstalled.

Like Digimoto Lite above, the program requires the MS .Net framework. The OBD 2007 installer will install Version 2.0 if not already present on your computer, follow-up by going to http://www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/ to apply any "critical" security patches.

Like many older software programs, OBD II has UAC issues on Vista & Win 7 so read the file: VistaWindows7Users.txt in the zipped download. Basically, the program must be installed & run with administer rights & in compatibility mode, so instead of "double clicking" to install or run the program, ALWAYS "right click" and "Run as an administer". Compatibility mode is accessed by "right clicking" the actual program file (not a shortcut) & getting into the "Properties" tab. While I have dealt with these issues before, the laptop I am using runs M$ XP so I have no other tips at this time.
