VE Calais gauge holders

Specific interior modification information for Holden Commodore VE and VEII Series Commodores, and HSV E1, E2, and E3 models

Postby shterk » Tue Mar 26, 2013 1:10 pm

Hey guys,

Wanting to know if there are any "hump" gauge holders for the centre speaker location which suit the VE Calais?
I can't seem to find any that are compatible to the Calais, they only fit the sport model variant (ie SS, SSV).
I’m not interested in the 3 gauge setup like the HSV have as that would require extensive part and trim replacement to my Series 2 Calais!
Hopefully someone has some idea :)

Cheers,
Vas

what makes them only ss,ssv variants? i thought they went in in place of the speaker grille at top and i thoiugh the grilles were the same

shame they are not.. but then i think that is a good thing for you cause those pod gauge holders that jhp sell look dodgey in my opinion.. cant go past factory look

Hi Justin,

Got that response from the guys at SS Inductions, they said the speaker covers of the Calais are different to that of the SS so they wouldn't fit
Series 1 Calais is completely different I know but through series 2 looks the same as the SS! Wish I could compare the two or even test the gauge holder to confirm unless someone can measure their SS speaker cover for me?

I have an SSV one around somewhere .. will try and find and measure

i am sure that i tried my S1 SSV one and it fit into the S2 SSV one wheni had the SSV IQ setup in mine.. i know the E3 IQ covers are different as they are plastic now

If you could that would be great mate, would be nice to find out they are the same size and finally put an end to this.

Yeah, I can confirm the Series I SS / HSV speaker grill is the same size / shape as the Series II SS / HSV speaker grill.

I know this doesn't answer the question, but its just to present a complete picture for anyone wanting to go down this route.

The Series I Calais Speaker grill is much bigger and different to the SS Speaker grill.
Like DoubleDip has said, the Series II speaker grill is plastic, (Not a metal mesh wrapped around a plastic frame like the series I SS grills.)

I never got my hands on a Series II Non sport (I.E. Omega, Berlina, Calais) upper IQ surround, so I am not too sure what grill they use on those models ?

Fantastic work as always appreciate it mate!
I'll compare the two when I get home later today and will post my finding then.
I can confirm that the Series 2 Calais is a plastic trim cover, not metal with mesh wrapped around it.

Ok I just measured it up and have found that the cover is the exact same size!
Thanks again for your help doubedip.
So to sum it up the Series 2 Calais front center speaker cover is the same size as that of the Series 2 SS.
