I linked to another image. Unfortunately the upload feature of the forum is broken at the moment (we are currently trying to resolve the issue). You can upload to Photobucket etc and link to it.

Hi Jezzab,

That looks right - you can see it fairly well in the first 2 pics. Link below to some pics.

Unfortunately finding a SZ or DZ blower unit out here is like a needle in a haystack, and buying from Australia isn't an option as the car is LHD. Only option would be from the US as G8 spares, but the few I found online are from base model G8's which have the Standard AC blower as I have. If I was to find one then the wiring would be the next challenge as I cant see any spare loom plugs lying around apart from the large plug on the RHS of the glovebox (last 3 pictures show it clearly has some looped wires).

I don't know if its possible to have a level3/4 headunit interact with the std ac (even if only half the "buttons work" i dont care as long as manual control of AC / temperature /Fan is controllable) but happy to pay for the expertise. Otherwise I think I'm SOL.

Having a non functional AC out here isn't an option and I travel plenty for work, so fiddling with it for long periods isnt an option.

The white plug is usually the glovebox light song wouldn't stress about that. I need to check some docs I've got. Put it this way, something has to control the blend door etc and that's what the hvac does

I found the Cadillac Lumina is based on our Omega & the CR8 is based on our SS. I am pretty sure the series one Omega & SS don't have climate.
Normally the blend door/s on standard air is controlled by vacuum or cable.

Based on some research, it appears that LHD Lumina/Commodore/G8's have a different "setup" for the HVAC controller module, its mounted on the far RHS of the blower assembly for the DZ equipped cars (which they all were).

Taken a chance on a used HVAC module from a G8 (completely different to the RHD module), and the associated wiring harness, and hoping its plug-n-play a bit like Msenj demonstrated with the RHD HVAC module. Reckon if I follow a similar logic, I might be in with a shot.

Will report back once I have had some time to play.

BINGO!

The HVAC module for LHD cars is located up /next to the fan motor. On Std AC cars the module has only 2 plugs (X1 - feed from the main loom + HVAC loom for doors/recirc etc). The DZ module (GM part no. 92215229) has 3 plus with the 3rd being for the DZ blend door.

PLugging in the DZ module into the std loom (ie. no third plug) results in the all the functions working except the relevant temperature sensors (inside temp, ambient temp, left sun load, right sun load) arent showing. Need to place resistors in pin 1,2, 12 & 13.

In order to make the unit work as outlined by the tutorial on line here, you need to place resistors or add the sensors to the X1 plug - I havent bother figuring out how to bridge the module with resistors as per the RHD module, as it looks easy enough to loop the resistors onto the X1 plug.

For reference:

HVAC Control Module X1
Pin Wire Color Circuit No. Function
1 0.3 L-GN/BK 735 Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Signal (CJ2)
2 0.3 D-GN 734 Inside Air Temperature Sensor Signal (CJ2)
3 0.3 WH/BU 193 Rear Defog Relay Control
4 0.3 YE 1649 Blower Motor Relay Supply Voltage
5 0.5 GY/BK 754 Blower Motor Speed Control
6 0.5 D-BU 7393 A/C Compressor Clutch Low Reference
7 0.5 D-GN 7392 A/C Compressor Clutch Supply Voltage
8 0.35 D-GN 9207 Low Speed GMLAN Serial Data
9 0.5 PK 1039 Ignition 1 Voltage
10 0.85 BK 850 Ground
11 0.3 BN 61 Low Reference (CJ2)
12 0.3 L-BU/BK 7425 Left Solar Sensor (CJ2)
13 0.3 GY 7424 Right Solar Sensor (CJ2)
14-17 -- -- Not Used
18 0.75 OG/GN 2240 Battery Positive Voltage

Hope that helps anyone looking to convert a LHD car.

Funny coz ive upgraded lots of Omegas to SSV radio and IQ and they all had HVAC SZ modules. Never seen a vacuum line or cable and what controls the cable?

The module for the LHD is vastly different to the RHD module. it has no heatsink whatsoever.

The LHD std AC has no vacuum or cable connections but isnt SZ as the sunload sensor isnt installed, nor internal air temp or ambient temperature sensors.

Interestingly enough is a DZ LHD module works without modification with a level 3 Head unit.

Funny coz I had a 2010 S1 SV6 sedan hire car for a while & it only had air con, no sz climate control. A lever or a KNOB on the HVAC control panel normally controls the cable or vacuum switch.
