as a bit of info for everyone. I tried to program my brothers sz hcm to dz today.

i tried programming his hcm in my car as it's an ssv but i kept getting stuck when trying to download the info from my car onto the tech 2 and then getting the info from the tis2web system. it was saying the ecu was incompatible/wrong when trying to select the dz hcm.

after a few hours of running back/forth between my desktop and cars, i finally chose to use a chevrolet option and then go by a part number program instead of the holden option on tis2web.

this allowed me to program my brothers sensor in my car with a dual zone config.

put it back in my brother's car and everything was working as it should.

Hi there Velj,
If you bought the fascia and the main unit together, (I.E. they have been taken from the same doner car),
then you will not need to touch the fascia at all.
(The fascia and the Main unit share a common code (Seed, Key combination), which is set at the factory).
The means that the fascia and the head unit are matched up together, kinda like a marriage.

This prevents people from going to car yards, and stealing a brand new fascia unit, and fitting it to their 7 year old VE...

So all you really need to set is,
1) The VIN number on the main unit,
2) The startup screens and colours (If you so wish) on the main unit.
3) The HCE will need to be taken from a DZ model (Which I think you have already),
4) A couple of resistors need to be fitted to the HCE to trick it into thinking that the require sensors are there.

Cheers
Matti

Hi there Velj,
You should not need to remove the EEPROM from the Main Unit.
The 3M Clips will work just fine....

Probably the best thing to do is list exactly what you have (In terms of EEPROM programmer and Software),
what you have done so far, and what exactly is happening....

Remember, there is no such thing as TOO MUCH information, and we cannot see what you have, or what you have done...
So its best that you try and convey this information so as everyone understands what exactly where you are stuck, and how they might be able to help...
(Typically a one liner for stuff like this is not enough information ;) )

The problem here is that there are literally thousands of different EEPROM programmers than you could be using...
Adding to this that for many EEPROM programmers, there are multiple software packages that can be used, different software and driver versions, and even Operating Systems (Linux, Mac, Windows XP, Windows 7)....

You get the idea....

With the information above, it would be anyone's guess what the cause could be...
It definitely sounds like that you wont be able to read or write from the EEPROM if you cannot get the programmer working...
Post up much more information as stated above, and we will try our best to help you out...
Otherwise, I would be going back to the person that sold you the EEPROM programmer, to try and work out what is going on there...

Hope this helps...

what eprom programmers are you guys using???

i programmed a HVAC unit the other day with tech 2 (trying to change from SZ to DZ) and had to go the same way as SSVYUTE did and choose a part number instead of the holden way ....

tried it in the car and everything worked except pressing the recirc button made the A/C come on and off on the screen and pressing A/C button made the whole cooling system on the screen turn on / off

i then tried reading it with my willem programmer GQ-3X and it reads out fine but then when flashing in a DZ from this site i cant verify it... when checking what it has flashed in everything flashes in except the first few bytes... have cleaned the board scrapped the legs etc... etc..... and still the same...

went back to the programming with tech and had more of a play and managed to flash it in using holden and dual zone and everything works fine except the fan doesnt physically work... everythihg works but fan doesnt turn... plug in my own SSV unit into the car and everything works fine (except you get the service vehicle soon alert) any ideas?

Grunt had the same problem with the willem GQ-3X programmer with the vx clusters. It wouldn't write the whole bin properly with the chip still on the board, it didnt write the first few bytes from memory but the rest was fine. He had to desolder and put into the programmer.
