The realtime cable I'm getting wired direct to where flashable chip goes on the 162692*8 PCM to go directly to the ostrich, so then I can do all $BD & $06 on the fly!

Yeah 12p looks amazing but for the work I do too much to rewire to go back to 808!

I wish I still had my l67 VX Calais to test it out though!

Thanks for thread bump!

Yeah I like tazz's project idea too!

hmm. seems the tech2win was a bit of a let down.. since its not plugged into the car nor do I have the required device to communicate with it.. (MDI.. $1500), It looks for car data first before allowing myself to try send/reset anything. Maybe I could trick it.. somehow... create a comport that says its the MDI device.. although I think that may be out of my league.
program called instool

Well Iv got a couple ancient computers lying around. Just need to know what the programs actually called.
Ill see if I cant find something along those lines.

Hi TazzI, I may be able to help with that tricking bit. Could you explain exactly what you want to do? As far as I understand, you want to trick tech2win into thinking it has a multiple diagnostic interface (MDI) connected on a comport? What are your plans after that? Do you want to monitor what data tech2win is sending/receiving? The tricking bit will most probably be very hard to do without having a real MDI to test with first though.

The tech2win emulates a tech2 device exactly, but what I neglected to think about is a tech2 device 'searches' for a car before I can make it send any information/commands through the comport. No car connected = cannot get pass 'searching for data'

So even If I manage to trick it to believing there is a MDI device hooked up, It also requires a car to be hooked up to the MDI to get pass the 'searching' point.

Since I dont think emulating a car data stream is going to be easy...Unless... bare with me here.... We trick the computer that a comport has a MDI device connected (probably the hardest part), then use previous car log data to send continuously over to emulate a cars communication thus trick the device

Could always attempt searching for 'commands' in the tech2 holden cartridge .bin, May need a few known commands to see if they don't pop up in there.

Or alternatively.. I just buy a chinese tech2 clone and wire in a second diagnostic port and listen to the commands... make our own tech2 program! then sell off the clone, job done :D

Hi all, I have a VZ SV8 which runs OBD2 for the engine and gearbox, but the rest of the car; instruments, ABS, radio etc is all ALDL and they all produce chatter almost identical to the examples shown above.
Now because effectively the same data is presented on the ALDL and OBD2 bus and I have an EFILIVE to datalog the OBD2, I have been able to decode some of the "chatter".
The upside of this is that because the busses are presented on separate pins, both can be used at the same time with no overloading of either bus.
I have attached an Excel file which is my 'best guess' to date of some of the ALDL chatter. NOTE, the RPM calculation is clearly wrong (hence work in progress). Also the fuel flow is not yet calibrated.
By the way when logging to a PC 8192 baud is not an option, I have found 9600 is close enough to work just fine.
I have also included a copy of an old web page from Andy Whittaker from the UK, which is where I got some of the equations.
BTW, my purpose for doing all of this is to build a better trip computer based on a custom programmed PIC microcontroller and a graphic LCD display
Cheers, Steve

o.k. been busy trying too many things, 1 of which made a double adapter to read commands sent by my scan tool & could do myself out of work here but I doubt it as most people don't tweak this hard...

Mod's need to fix only 3 uploads & kicking back to page 1 after posting...

here's 3 text files of clearing fault codes on VT

i'm not 100% sure on how it all works but looks like it first must say HI & then send the command?????

looks like 4 device numbers could be: F1, F2, F5 & FA from memory(wrote don't at work sorry if wrong & not sure I'm looking at the right thing?)

4th text next post

Table 9 (last command send... is the fun one to mess around with :) )

Also, since a tech2 can change the clusters odo... Id figure it would have to be done somewhere in here.. odo is 087380.. will change it and see if anything here changes. Could be completely wrong but I couldnt find any other commands that the cluster responded back to (for mode 01 obviously).

Cheers and Thanks for the feedabck Gruntly69 :)

I have increased the file upload quota to 20 attachments per post (Hopefully this should be enough Lol).
The returning the the first page after posting is very annoying, so I have added it to my To Be Fixed List...
(looks like a rainy looong weekend in Sydney, so I should have the opportunity to fix this up then :(

Cheers and thanks again for the feedback ;)

Hey Tazz, not sure what the 9th command is?

here's all the clear commands for my 2003 vy berlina so it has both front air bags but none in the pillar I think as there's no signs for them & command may be different for them?

Thanks Zerone for allowing more updates & yeah I think 20 will be enough LOL, cant wait for not be kicked back to page 1 thanks!
