Thanks Martin. Mission accomplished. I was actually able to release the tabs from the front and I could pull them out a small distance. There was a lip though that prevented the knobs from coming through the front of the fascia.

Everything looks tons better except that whatever damage had occurred seemed to have moved the know toward the edge of the opening to the point that it rubs when I turn the knob. When I get to the point where I can read and write the serial EEPROM, I'll swap PCBs.

Thanks again,

George

No worries George, I see that you mention the antenna connections were damaged

If you don't already know, these sockets are called FAKRA sockets and are available in the states from a company called Pasternack

http://www.pasternack.com
+1 (949) 261 1920

part numbers are PE44649x (where x is the keying code or colour code)

FAKRA sockets come in a variety of colour coded versions, each with a slightly different locating lug position and denoted for particular usage.

I have attached the datasheet, if you cannot find the exact type you need, the type "Z" is universally compatible to all others and is tried and tested by me in my HU due to the guys at the wrecker yard "carefully removing" my head unit and tearing them clean off the side

If Pasternack cant help you.................

cheers

The VIN is broadcast over the GMLAN from the BCM every second. The head unit reads the VIN and enables itself. If your VIN in the head unit is different to the VIN in your car then it will go into security lockout. The VIN in the head unit must match the BCMs VIN

Hi all,

I have just managed to get my programmer working so I'm looking forward to contributing as best I can.

My primary goal is to perform a VIM unlock as the solutions that are well known on the internet will not ship to the UK.

I am attaching the eeprom dump from a fascia unit I bought off ebay that is supposed to have come from a Vauxhall VXR8 (a rebadged HSV Clubsport R8). Hopefully it will be of use to someone. I will try post the eeprom dumps from the units installed in the car next weekend when I have got a bit of time.

If anyone has narrowed the VIM addresses down to a particular part of the eeprom it would be great to work together to find them.

Cheers
Andy

When i reprogrammed the SS Stereo for the omega it worked okay. There was no HVAC operation. The blower fan however did not go to 100%. I tried reprogramming my SZ HCE to DZ but GQ programmer could not verify. Now the Headunit does not start up. Retried reflashing with original eeprom still does not verify. Will upload bins; need permissions to upload .bin files.

Sorry Crackers01,
The .bin extension wasn't added to the list of known extension types, so the forum didn't know how to handle them.
This should now be fixed if you wanted to give it another go !

I think it must be something to do with my permissions, cant send any file after renaming (.txts, .hex etc) "The extension txt is not allowed."

Cheers Josh
