You still have a centre speaker plugged in?? :o I disconnected that 2 days after getting my VE. It absolutly kills the stereo field.

Thanks doubledip, any thoughts are helpful....right or wrong. I am thinking along the same track as you are anyway. As for the vin #: exactly what I said to the service guy."THAT VIN WON"T WORK IN MY CAR" it like putting the wrong key in a lock....it just don't work. He said that he can only do what the tech guys are telling him. I wouldn't doubt that.
They told me that they have never played with one of these before, only replaced them due to other problems. The other thing is my car is a SV6 anyway, so why would the vin # from that SV6 to mine be any different if they are around the same vintage. Another thing is I know. you and a couple others here are on the ball, a lot more knoweledge than your average holden tech. Did you'se guys learn from a text book or cd or was it from physical "hands-on" & using your brain? I am sure I know what the answer is!!
jezzab: my front speaker was ok before the "update" The problem is that the front centre speaker does not fade out at all, stays the same volume and the back speakers only have 1/4 to 1/2 volume as they used to have. So disconnecting it will not replace the volume into the rear speakers. This has been a common problem after the update or on the later models, as I have never heard of it on the early series II's until they have been updated. There is several complaints on the same problem accross on other forums after the update.
Anyway, everyone keep your thoughts & ideas rolling. You never know, might hit the jackpot. I think doubledip is on the right track. Thanks & cheers. REMEMBER..this is an Instrument cluster swap thread.

I'm not saying it will fix your problem I'm saying it makes it more of a stereo field instead of near mono. Best mod I did

Yeh jezzab, I have heard of heaps disconnecting the middle speaker & believe me, it would sound heaps better than what it does at the moment. I was not haveing a shot at you, I was only explaining that the rear speakers have hardly any volume compared to the front, so with hardly any rear volume will still sound shit. Easiest way to explain it is as if I had an amp hooked to the front speakers & not the back. Any info & thoughts are always good. thanks & cheers.

Well, holden had my car for another day. No difference except the screen is now RED again. So far they have replaced the silver box...reflashed it, reflashed it, reflashed it & even tried a different vin in it. That did not work either lol I told them it wouldn't. They have not replaced the screen. They are stumped why the centre speaker will not fade out. Does any one know if the screen keeps any memory or do they usually have problems. I am getting a bit pissed now as they have had the car for 4 days & all they have done is turned my screen back to red! They now seem to think it is a wiring problem. I honestly can't see how flashing the system can cause "wiring problems". Any other ideas?
cheers.

15/3/2013 Hi guys, I went to holden today & they showed me all of the email responses that they received from the gm techs regarding my crappy IQ problem. He had asked for a VCI number to flash it back & the tech's reply was: No thats not advisable, as that software had too many bugs in it. Also we cannot backdate this latest version as it is locked and will only allow for updating. WOW...look at the bugs now!!
The holden guy who is working on this for me is thinking it may be to do with the blue tooth for the phone. The poor soul sweats everytime he see's me coming!
I called holden cust care & requested that they take my old IQ back to their tech's & flash the unit back to the original software & set the screen to blue again and enable the camera & rse then send it back to the dealer to be fitted. The guy on the phone said that should not be a problem as it is not a safety issue. Sounds too easy.
Do you think that the blue tooth could be playing up after the update? I sat in a Feb 2011 sedan at the dealer today & that IQ done everything right & sounded good.....Cheers

Hi guy's. (FINALLY) The latest is holden is sending a tech up tomorrow (monday) to fix my IQ. I hope he leaves early as it's about a 7-8 hour drive for him. Would be nice if he bought the vim mod with him. Once it is all up & running I am going to fit the factory dvd player. HOLDEN should do me a good deal on one after having my car for 5 days & getting nowhere. Our holden dealer is right next door to a pub, so I might shout him a beer....good meals too. Keep you'se posted.

if its a Holden Tech guy out of sydney and he is driving up then i think i know him.. possibly his name is Justin if it is the one i know......

Good luck if its a holden tech and disabling VIM LOL aint a simple process and they wouldnt have the tools/software to do it

and as for the free DVD etc.. would be nice but i doubt that one as well... unfortunaetly Holden and also other Brand/Dealerships dont like handing out freebies... or even buying back a massive lemon of a car and giving a new one... ask many of the Dodge owners out there where i know one particular customer has been waiting for 8 months for there car to be returned fixed ROFL

Yeh, I think I know who he is too!!!! lol His name is JUSTIN (just-in case holden can't fix it) He can. No I'm not asking for a free dvd. but a huge discount would be half alright. & You'd think the tech could do the vim & put it on holdens bill. BIG lol. Cheers see you later, Scotty
PS: Once he gets out of "Castle Hill" on to the freeway the drive is pretty good & straight through, not like Sydney which is like driving through an ultimate wiring harness these days!! (ex penrith guy)
