Ok that's promising, what colour wires are under the top row of that pic that show black, pink/blue and light green?

Great, the blue wire is the camera video signal, the pink is the amplifier mute control and black is the camera drain wire.
That should mean you have connectors in the actual tailgate for the camera.

The only connector in the tail gate (top) that is spare is the black one in the previous picture. The colours go..Top row= black...pink...blue...black
bottom row purple(rear demister)...green..........blue/pink. How's that for ya? looking good I think. Maybe the dvd connector is already in the hood lining as well...one can only hope! I heard a story a fair while ago that the VE II Equipe wagon was based on a cheapish berlina, so maybe they just use the same harness in these variants. Thanks scotty

You are apparently in luck my friend, the purple wire is for the rear defog element supply voltage, green for back up lamp control, pink/blue for ignition voltage, first black is ground, pink next to that is amplifier mute control, blue next to that is camera video signal and the black (bare) wire next to it is the camera drain wire.
That should do it mate!
Oh and for the DVD connector you're out of luck, no connector available in the roof as I found out in my Calais wagon.

Thankyou...thankyou shterk. I had a feeling that is was in the harness already as I couldn't find it under the dash. I hope doubledip follows this so it will make it easy for him if he has/wants to do one. Did you end up finding your DVD connector? where? definately not one in my hood lining! Told you I couldn't be that lucky. As soon as I get the camera hooked up I will post it here for all to see. Thanks again & keep in touch.

No problem at all, glad I've helped someone out!
I did find the connector for the DVD player, it's located next to the right front tweeted under the trim piece in front of the windscreen (it's a blue connector).
Let me know if you need any other info.

Hi guys. Well holden replaced my IQ yesterday (just the silver box) & Guess what.... it's still the same, super loud front centre speaker & hardly any rear speakers even when faded to the rear. Do any of you know if there is any settings when rse is enabled such as "headphones" on/off etc in the actual programming? Have to take it back on wednesday so they can do more programming/guesswork. WHAT a pain in the ass....again. Holden tech's have told my service guys to put in the vin # from the sv6 they have in their yard to see if that corrects it. The sound in that one is excellent, how mine used to be and hasn't had the update done. Next question is could changing the screen from red to blue make any difference to the output levels from front & rear channels? My holden service guy seems to think that the new IQ is set to a base model such as omega & is hopeing that he can change it to sv6 or alike. They reckon the next they will do is trace all the speaker wires to make sure they are ok. In my opinion I think its either the wrong model programmed into it or something to do with the rse, but any ideas would be a big help. Cheers & thanks. PS could it be anything to do with my calais cluster...different vin #?

well this is my understanding of it all....

your radio sounded good.. wanted it flashed to a different colour... to do this they need to perform an update.. so they place in your vin again and go through the motions choosing a different interior colour which then changes the face colour form red to blue.. in doing this the software in the IQ unit is upgraded at the same time... (forced to as this is the only available version for the tech to use)... puts it in completes all the programming and sound is now terrible...

now they get a brand new unit... install would have been performed one of 2 ways... now normally it would have been remove old IQ , fit new IQ and then follow the above programming to your car using your vin choosing different interior for the colour change etc.. blah blah... and sound would be exactly the same (terrible) or they could have just place it into your car and left it at that and depending on where/how long/how old the unit was that they put in your car the software version may have been older than the update on line and it may or may not have sounded better...

now the tech being told to try the vin from the SV6 because it sounds better... as far as holden service guys go i dont know how they are going to get it going as soon as they flash your radio with the SV6 vin to check it is going to do both of these things.... flash the radio with the exact same version of software (as this is the latest available to them on line) and also cause a security lockout a they have just replace the vin in the radio with another cars and they cant change the vin only...

what you need to do is find the version of software thats in yours... and then find the version of software in the SV6's compare them and i feel they will be different versions and this will be where you sound issue lies... i have read/heard that the software in the later flashing has been updated to stop the speakers from blowing hence the reason why it doesnt sound as good.. once again it is only what i heard

what the holden guys are going to have to do (if they havent already) is to program your radio again the same way they have been but to get a VCI number from the Holden technical services guys and when programming with a VCI they should be able to program in an older version of the software .. this will hopefully bring back you sound quality that you are after... it is the only way i know how to program something with an older update..

all this is based off my years of working with holden (long time ago ) and how the programming changing (VCI) was performed.. i still do a lot of work with TIS2WEB these days and no what it is doing right now and i only assume that every time they are flashing anny of these stereos they are only turning them into the same unit with poor sound..

NOTE : this is only my opinion on the mater and what i think is wrong and how i think it can be fixed... remembering i am going off what i know and what i have read you type in on what they have been doing... so please dont take it as gospel and then complain that it was all wrong
